Induction to A Levels (second year students) – Thursday 29 August

We are pleased you have decided to return to Barnsley Sixth Form College to finish your A Level journey with us.

Induction Schedule

Our aim is to ensure that you know what to expect from your time with us and provide advice and guidance on what you need to prepare for your second year. There will be activities that you may want to get involved in, both across the Sixth Form and within Barnsley College, and we will let you know more about these when you enrol. Below is the timetable and venue for your induction:

Induction to A Levels (first year students) – Friday 30 August

We are pleased you have decided to join Barnsley Sixth Form College to start your A Level journey with us.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Year 12 Induction Day on Friday 30 August. See below details of the schedule for the day.

 

If your surname begins with letters from A-J you must arrive at 9:00am.

If your surname begins with letters from K-Z you must arrive at 9:30am.

During the day you will:

  • Collect your timetable
  • Collect your lanyard (if applicable)
  • Have a chance to discover the different sites of the College and what they offer
  • Meet the Sixth Form Management Team
  • Meet your subject teacher
  • Meet your Personal Progress Mentor
  • There will be a one hour lunch break where you can either purchase food and drinks from our refectory or bring your own

Your day will start in the Atrium of the College. Bring a pen and some paper with you! We will see you there!

You and your parents/carers will have the opportunity to speak to tutors, attend presentations, find out about the range of support services available to you, and look around the campuses to see our great facilities.

Looking for A Levels?

Barnsley Sixth Form College will be open so come and find out about the range of A Level subjects that are available to study. It has an excellent reputation for success and achieved a 99% overall pass rate in 2023 with a 100% pass rate in the majority of subjects, including Film Studies, Mathematics, Media Studies and Physics. The Sixth Form campus is on St Mary’s Place, a short walk from the Old Mill Lane campus.

Interested in a university-level course?

If you’re looking to extend your qualifications with a university-level course, we offer a range of higher-level programmes including foundation and honours degrees, Higher and Degree Apprenticeships, HNCs, HNDs, Higher Technical Qualifications and professional business and leadership courses which are validated by leading universities.

Looking for an adult or part-time course?

The Open Day also offers an opportunity for you to find out about our adult and part-time courses. These range from career-focused qualifications to short programmes which can be studied as a hobby or for fun.

Where to find us

Have a look at our  campuses page  to see the location of our sites. Visitors can use the public car park, The Seam, on County Way behind the Old Mill Lane campus, Electric Theatre and SciTech Digital Innovation Hub. This is a council-run pay and display car park. Our STEM Centre, Automotive Technologies Centre, Honeywell Sports campus and The CUBE Construction campuses have limited visitor car parking spaces.
