Aspire

At Barnsley Sixth Form College, we want to identify, encourage and support students who have both the aspiration and the potential to progress to a leading university or competitive course.

We have two different support teams within Sixth Form:

Aspire Early Deadline – including Oxford, Cambridge, Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary.

Aspire Russell Group – including leading universities in the Russell Group and competitive courses.

Our Aspire group is open to students who arrive at our Sixth Form with excellent GCSEs or indicate a strong desire to apply for the leading universities.

At enrolment you will have the opportunity to indicate your interest in being a member of these and have your first 1-1 with either Daisy or Ami.

As part of Aspire, you will receive the same first-class support and teaching that all of our students do, along with being a member of the Teams group where additional resources and opportunities are posted.

Additional sessions and 1-1s are offered to support students with every step of the intense and competitive application process, from first draft of personal statements to interview prep.

Support will be provided around understanding and applying to summer school opportunities and access schemes.

You will also have the opportunity to attend trips to Oxford and Cambridge and explore the wide and amazing opportunities out there for you. You may even spot our alumni who have successfully secured a place to study at these universities.
