The Spanish Bake Off 2026 crowns a new champion
The Spanish Bake Off 2026 proved to be the biggest and most competitive yet, bringing together talented A Level Spanish student bakers for a celebration of creativity, flavour and skill.
Each student was assigned a region of Spain to research, selecting a traditional dish to recreate and bring into Sixth College for a live taste test. This year’s entries reflected a wide range of regional influences, showcasing both sweet and savoury dishes.
Taking the crown for 2026 is Sixth Form student Morgan Damms, who impressed judges with plaited breads inspired by the region of Ceuta. Morgan’s bake stood out for its presentation, authenticity and flavour, securing a well-deserved victory. As the new champion, Morgan receives a £10 Dolly’s Dessert voucher, along with the title and recognition as this year’s top baker.
The competition also celebrated several strong entries, including second place Nyah Hillson, who achieved second place with a thoughtful and authentic approach to Spanish cuisine.
Nyah said: “I feel very joyous and grateful that I won second. It felt great to know that my hard work and effort were noticed and appreciated. I made homemade churros con chocolate, inspired by my allocated region, Madrid. As it’s the capital, I wanted to create something people would realistically eat there, giving my classmates a taste that felt immersive.
“The competition itself was great fun. Having a prize made it more exciting, and I’m quite competitive, so I really wanted to do well. It was also brilliant to try other dishes and explore new foods. Overall, it was a fun and rewarding experience, and I’d love to take part again. I’d encourage other students to give it their best and enjoy the process, as it helps build independence and deepens our connection to Spanish culture.”
The event continues to grow each year, highlighting student talent and enthusiasm while celebrating food, culture and friendly competition.
